Meet Nick Quint, Owner at Yahara Bay Distillers 

How We Began

Still at Yahara Bay Distillers, Madison WIProprietor and Chief Distiller, Nick Quint is a man dedicated to his passion — that of crafting fine spirits from the best products Wisconsin has to offer. 

Coming out of retirement at the age of 61 to pursue this vision, Nick studied at Michigan State to learn the art of the still.

Yahara Bay buys local in Wisconsin"I noticed that Madison had plenty of microbreweries but no microdistilleries. So I purchased a still from Germany and set up shop on Madison's southwest side."

"It took about three days to assemble the still that arrived in many, many pieces before we could even begin distilling. The first thing we made was vodka and to our surprise it was pretty good!"

Two years later, Nick is still the chief distiller and doesn't have plans of stopping. Half scientist, half artist, he continues to explore how to capture the flavors of Wisconsin in a little bottle.
